Your top 5 picks & why:

Matthew Herbert – The Audience

One of my favorite tracks & top music to end the night in a delicious dancing way , possible that I jump off stage to dance with my fellow music brothers & sisters.

Link – Amenity

Ah , The nineties in full effect ! Evolution records was the mighty label of Tom Middleton & Mark Pritchard , this was released in 1996 & a milestone for electronic music . At 1st you think this is ambient but it’s not !

Jon Hopkins – Light Through The Veins

I saw Hopkins for the 1st Time as support act for Herbert & I instantly heard a genius of this era & by now he has all the credits he deserves , splendid club tune & probably one of the best tunes to end a set .

Dave Valentin – Cinnamon & Gloves

This is music by humans for humans . discovered on the dingwalls compilation.

Funkadelic – I Bet You

The world would be a duller place without them , 100 % top funk from their 1st record (1970 ) buy this if you can.

Boards Of Canada – Aquarius

It ’s normal for me to play all night & in the morning people & music can turn loose. From Music Has The right To Children & that’s a fact , on WARP records .

Matthew Halsall & The Gondwana Orchestra

Into Forever

Wisdom of life & woman power in the morning is always a good idea , timeless smart jazz .

Singers & Players Feat Prince Far I – Bedward

From the mighty On-U Sound & this list would not be complete without them , this is the story of a priest who taught he could fly.

Jah Wobble & Bill Laswell – Alsema Dub

From Axiom label , a sub division of island Records & they released some of the best records ever , This is Dub in all his glory , from Radio Axiom

Kraftwerk – Computer Love

No list is complete without the fathers of electronic music .

When you dance with the right person, this song could last forever.

These are my 5 songs, probably out of 500 other options but i had to make a choice and this is the result. Smooth and sexy is the keyword cause thats the kind of atmosphere I love to create, certainly at the end of the night…

Your top 5 picks & why:

  1. Elvis Presly “Fever” I have played this track many times in the early morning , has a very sexy but at the same time creepy sound to it
  2. Diana Ross “Sweetest Hangover” great track by a queen, perfect for after hours… starts off real slow and when you think it’s almost time to go home, the beat picks up a notch to an upbeat disco tempo
  3. The reflex “I feel good, James Brown edit” incredible edit by the Reflex, love how he cut the drums up and stretched them, this tune is sooo funky you won’t ever want to go home
  4. Marvin Gaye “sexual healing” When the night is almost over and you want to take that girl home, this is the track you’ll convince her with your suave moves
  5. Notorious B.I.G. “big poppa” tell your friends to call my friends, so we can be friends…. The perfect afterparty track, picture a Jacuzzi, champagne, beats, blunts and beautiful women

RED D

Tell us about yourself:

Sure, I could say that I was influenced by *insert credible genre of music here* or that I got my big break at *insert name of credible legendary but now closed club here*, but who really needs to know? Let’s just say that when playing some records (since 1991), making some music (since 2005), throwing the odd party (since 1992) and running my label We Play House Recordings (since 2008), that I do it with passion, lust and a healthy dose of putting it all in the right perspective.

Next to DJ’ing all over Belgium and beyond as Red D I have been performing together with Lady Linn (voted Belgian’s best female singer twice) as Red D feat Lady Linn for over 12 years, bringing our gospel to almost every major club and festival in Belgium. In 2017 this collaboration will see a big amount of new tracks & edits and on the release front we are releasing a track with Belgian techno giant Fabrice Lig on We Play House Recordings.

This brings us neatly to my label We Play House Recordings! Started in 2007 as an outlet for the early music of my hometown friend San Soda the label soon began releasing music by people like Russ Gabriel, Locked Groove, Metrobox, Reggie Dokes and many more. But at the core there always was San Soda and FCL, the studio collaboration between the two of us. Our FCL tracks ‘Let’s Go’, ‘More Than Seven’, ‘It’s You’ and our remixes for Audiojack’s ‘Stay Glued’ and Stuffa’s ‘Proof’ are by now part of house music’s collective history and have lead us to perform all over the world. In the first half of 2017 FCL will be releasing two exciting new E.P.’s. One on the revered US label NDATL (run by Kai Alcé) and one on our very own We Play House Recordings of course.

On the Red D solo release front you can expect a new E.P. for UK legends Freerange Records in the spring and a collaboration with Fabrice Lig and Lady Linn on We Play House Recordings. Next to that there are of course gigs all over the place, including a seventh appearance at the legendary Panorama Bar in Berlin in March.

Your top 5 picks & why:

  1. Al Hudson & The Soul Partners ‘Trying To Prove My Love’ => for that lady you want to take home
  2. Ce Ce Rogers ‘Someday’ => for ‘let’s make this world a better place we really believe we can because we are slightly drunk’-moments
  3. George Michael ‘Praying For Time’ => simply because ANY George Michael track is perfect to end a night with
  4. W.A. ‘I’d Rather F*** With You’ => to annoy those people who still want hard techno past 8 AM
  5. Laurent Garnier ‘Acid Eiffel’ => listen & understand
